Han-Mo Koo Memorial Lecture

To honor his memory and scientific contributions, the Han-Mo Koo Memorial Award was established in 2010. Awardees are selected based on scientific achievements and peer recognition and, importantly, that their contributions to human health and research align with the scientific legacy of Han-Mo Koo. The 2018 honoree is Harold Varmus, M.D..

 A link between gut infection, autoimmune mechanisms and Parkinson’s disease Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder caused by the progressive loss of dopaminergic neurons (DNs). Cryo-EM visualization of GPCRs Georgios (Yiorgo) Skiniotis, Ph.D., is a Professor of Molecular and Cellular Physiology and of Structural Biology at Stanford University. Yiorgo’s laboratory employs primarily cryo-EM to investigate signaling cell surface receptors and the mechanisms that govern transmembrane signal instigation.
