Grand Rapids, Mich. (May 29, 2014) – The West Michigan Chapter of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) named Van Andel Institute (VAI) physical security specialist Andriana Vincent “Security Practitioner of the Year” at its annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Dinner on May 28, 2014.
VAI is a world-class biomedical research and science education facility headquartered in Grand Rapids, MI. The physical security team plays an important role in protecting the facility’s assets, including intellectual property, and providing a secure work environment for more than 300 employees.
Vincent joined VAI in 2008 and currently oversees the facility’s surveillance systems and access control programs. She has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Grand Valley State University (GVSU) and is a graduate of the GVSU police academy. She also currently serves as chairperson for the West Michigan chapter of ASIS.
“Andriana is passionate about security and truly believes in the pursuit of excellence,” said Kevin Denhof, Van Andel Institute physical security director. “I am extremely proud of Andriana. She is an exemplary employee well on her way to one day running a security department for an international company.“
The annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Dinner brings the public and private sectors together to recognize Law Enforcement Officers of the Year and recognize the outstanding accomplishments of fellow security professionals. The association aims to recognize security professionals who demonstrate honesty, integrity and diligent discharge of professional responsibilities. Candidates must be ASIS members in good standing, maintain the organization’s code of ethics and be actively involved in the community.
