Ted Heilman to succeed Kathleen Vogelsang as chief investment officer of Van Andel Institute

GRAND RAPIDS (Oct. 24, 2025) — Van Andel Institute has named Ted Heilman as its chief investment officer, effective Jan. 2, 2026.

Heilman joined VAI in 2007 and, most recently, served as associate director and senior portfolio manager. In his new role, Heilman will be responsible for managing the Institute’s endowment.

He will succeed Kathleen Vogelsang, who is retiring from the Institute after two decades of exceptional leadership.

“Kathleen’s deep expertise and unwavering commitment to VAI has been integral to our continued growth and impact. We are endlessly grateful for her years of service and stewardship,” said VAI Chairman and CEO David Van Andel. “As a long-time member of our investment team, Ted knows the Institute and, like Kathleen, is all in on our mission to improve the health and enhance the lives of current and future generations. His vast experience in portfolio and risk management, coupled with his forward-thinking approach, makes him a natural fit as chief investment officer.”
