VAI Chief Investment Officer Kathleen Vogelsang named to AACSB’s 2020 Class of Influential Leaders

Grand Rapids, Mich. (Jan. 28, 2020) – Van Andel Institute Chief Investment Officer Kathleen Vogelsang has been named to the 2020 Class of Influential Leaders of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, an international educational accreditation organization.

Vogelsang is one of 25 leaders selected for the 2020 class from across AACSB’s 850-plus member institutions worldwide. She was nominated by her alma mater, Grand Valley State University’s Seidman College of Business, and is GVSU’s first nominee to be selected for the honor. She holds a Bachelor’s of Business in Finance and an MBA from GVSU.

“It is a great and humbling honor to be among the dedicated and talented leaders from across the world who are being recognized by AACSB,” Vogelsang said. “I hope my inclusion helps magnify the promising education paths available at GVSU, as well as the important work in disease research and science education being done at VAI.”

The 2020 Class of Influential Leaders includes honorees from 25 AACSB-accredited schools in 13 countries. Past classes have included former Secretary of State Colin Powell and Drew Brees, quarterback for the New Orleans Saints and founder of Brees Dream Foundation.

Vogelsang joined VAI in 2005. Prior to that, she was a vice president and senior portfolio manager for Fifth Third Bank. Vogelsang currently serves on a number of West Michigan boards and committees, including Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services, Grand Rapids Community Foundation, Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park and Michigan Gift of Life. She has twice been named as one of the 50 Most Influential Women in West Michigan by Grand Rapids Business Journal and has been included in Crain’s Detroit Business’ list of 100 Most Influential Women in Michigan.

“The name of this prestigious class could not be more apt for Kathy; she is an influential leader in every sense,” said VAI Chief Operations Officer Jana Hall, Ph.D., MBA. “She generously gives of her time and expertise to benefit the West Michigan community and beyond, and all of us at VAI are so proud of this latest recognition of her hard work and dedication.”
