How could the diet and lifestyle choices we make today impact our children? Join us for Van Andel Institute’s next public lecture, A Focus on Metabolism’s Influence on Future Generations, which will explore the ripple effect nutrition can have across the generations. This free virtual event will feature presentations and a Q&A session with VAI scientists.
Growing evidence suggests that what we eat, how we live our lives, and the environmental factors to which we are exposed may have implications for our descendants’ health and disease risk. Using cutting-edge techniques, VAI scientists are working to understand these complex processes with the goal of developing ways to prevent and treat diseases including diabetes, cancer and Parkinson’s.
Registration for this event closed at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
Andrew Pospisilik, Ph.D. seeks to understand how we become whom we become, and how our disease susceptibility is defined from early on in life, even before conception, with the long-term goal of being able to predict lifelong health outlook at birth.
Adelheid Lempradl, Ph.D. is investigating how the dietary choices of parents may impact the health of their offspring in the hopes of translating her findings into new ways to prevent disease and create a healthier future.
