Van Andel Institute for Education named 24 teachers from four states as the 2020 Betty Van Andel Teachers of Excellence. These outstanding educators were selected for their hard work and dedication to their students, and for creating classrooms where curiosity, creativity and critical thinking thrive.
The announcement coincides with Teacher Appreciation Week, held May 4–8, 2020.
“The Teachers of Excellence honor is named for Betty Van Andel, a former elementary school teacher who co-founded Van Andel Institute with husband Jay Van Andel,” said VAI’s Chief Education Officer Terra Tarango. “During the early planning stages for the Institute, Betty was intent on the inclusion of Van Andel Institute for Education, saying ‘As a teacher, my lifelong dream was to provide a foundation for the children of future generations to follow and realize their dreams.’”
