Eligibility

College students must have completed at least one year of higher education (equivalent to 24 credit hours), be enrolled in a science-related degree program, and maintain a minimum of a 3.0 GPA. (The competitive average from the selected 2007 interns was 3.7 on a 4.0 GPA scale.)  Spring 2008 graduates with a bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply for the program; however, students currently enrolled in a master’s program or recent graduates of a master’s program are not eligible.

International students are eligible to apply if they meet the requirements for the program and are legally allowed to work and earn money in the United States. Van Andel Research Institute will typically not sponsor visas for summer-only employment.
