Program Details
Program Timeline: Students are required to begin on one of two program start dates. The first start date is Monday, May 12, 2008; this program ends on Friday, July 18, 2008. The second start date is Monday, June 9, 2008; this program ends on Friday, August 15, 2008.
Selection Process: Completed applications are reviewed by Van Andel Research Institute (VARI) scientists. VARI scientists will not have completed review of the applications until after March 15, 2008. Selected applicants will be contacted prior to March 30, 2008. If additional summer opportunities become available after April 7, 2008, your application may be reconsidered.

Physical Demands: Assignment may involve the use of potentially hazardous chemicals or hazardous or radioactive materials, or may be in areas where such materials are used. Requires adherence to safety policies and procedures and proper storage and disposal methods.
Salary: The pay range for the Summer Student Internship Program is based on a 10-week assignment at 40 hours per week.
1st-year student $3,400 ($8.50 an hour x 40 hours per week x 10 weeks)
2nd-year student $3,600 ($9.00 an hour x 40 hours per week x 10 weeks)
3rd-year student $3,800 ($9.50 an hour x 40 hours per week x 10 weeks)
4th-year student $4,000 ($10.00 an hour x 40 hours per week x 10 weeks)
Housing: Local area colleges/universities may have student housing available. It will be the responsibility of the student to make travel and housing arrangements and to pay for his or her own room and board.
Parking: Students are currently responsible for finding their own parking. The City of Grand Rapids Parking Services Department web site
