Sequencing

Dr. David Petillo operates Van Andel Research Institute’s Sequencing core facility under the direction of Dr. Bin Tean Teh. We primarily sequence plasmid, single-stranded templates, cosmids/PACs/BACs, and lambda phage DNA.

Hours of Operation

Sample Submission: any time or day 
Sequencing: Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 6:00 pm

What We Use

  • ABI 3700-capillary electrophoresis DNA sequencer
  • Applied Biosystems BigDye sequencing kit
  • Cycle sequencing of the Big Dye is performed on a MJ Research quad PCR machine and/or 
  • Applied Biosystems GeneAmp PCR System 9600, 9700 
  • Excess nucleotides are removed on Sephadex G50 spin column plates
