Other Considerations

In the instances where the investigator has to work within strain background constraints we will attempt to cryopreserve embryos on the desired genetic background. The investigator needs to be aware that we cannot guarantee success with some strains and that more mice and time may be necessary, leading to a higher cost of the service. Ideally the investigator provides all homozygous males, thus producing all heterozygous embryos. In this case we will freeze between 250-300 embryos. If the males are heterozygous we will freeze between 350-400 embryos. Finally, if all homozygous embryos are required the investigator will need to provide both donor males and females and the cost will be adjusted accordingly.
