Trisomy 8 is the most common chromosomal abnormality found in mouse embryonic stem (ES) cell lines. ES cells with three copies of chromosome 8 rarely produce germline transmission. We have developed a “speedy” FISH technique to screen for trisomy 8 in positive clones of mouse ES cells to avoid the use of abnormal cells in generating gene-targeted mice. This step reduces the time and cost of generating mouse model chimeras.
Investigator responsibilities:
- Provide fixed, frozen, or actively growing mouse ES cells.
- Complete a project application.
- Van Andel Research Institute (VARI) requires a signed service agreement prior to initiating any project. The service agreement will be sent to you prior to starting the project. Once the agreement has been completed, signed and sent back to VARI, we will begin the project.
