• Frozen: pack on dry ice and ship by overnight courier.
• Suspension-cultures: fill screw cap tube or flask with media, cap it, and wrap cap with Parafilm to avoid leaks. Place the tube in an insulated container (styrofoam) and ship by overnight courier.
• Cultures growing in screw-capped flasks: select healthy cultures in logarithmic growth phase. Fill the flask to the neck with gas-equilibrated (optimal pH) complete medium. Securely tighten the cap and wrap it with Parafilm. Cushion the flask with protective wrap (e.g. bubble-wrap) and pack it upright in an insulated box for overnight delivery.
• Fixed cells in methanol/ acetic acid (3:1): fill 15cc tube with fresh methanol/acetic acid, cap it, and wrap the cap with Parafilm. Package in an insulated container (styrofoam) containing frozen refrigerant gel packs, wrap tube with bubble-wrap, paper or cloth so that the tube does not touch the cold refrigerated gel packs. Ship overnight. Keep at ~ 4°C. See cell harvest protocol
• Slides: put slides in plastic slide box (ex. Fisher Scientific, Cat. No. 12-569-35, holds 5 slides). Ship 2- 5 Day service.
