Our Research
Computational Biology
We provide assistance with specialized data analysis and computationally intensive tasks, and write relatively small, "niche" programs that perform data-specific tasks not commonly found in existing commercial software. These programs can assist in several types of data-intensive projects, including genomic, microarray, and image projects. Training is also available.
Our lab manages a range of genome sequence and gene expression microarray software. We also maintain local access to genomic sequence data by mirroring the Ensembl databases and can assist investigators in using sequence analysis tools such as Vector NTI and the Staden package. We also maintain gene expression microarray and gene annotation databases and can assist investigators in using several gene expression microarray analysis programs, including GeneSpring, the Stanford suite, and Bioconductor.
Charges
For most interactions, an hourly charge will apply. For training, the first hour is at no charge, but subsequent consultations will be charged. For data analysis, initial attempts will be made to estimate the total cost of the project, however, these estimates may change as the project progresses. As with data analysis, specified meetings will be held to insure that cost estimates, software expectations, and release schedules are in agreement.
