Johan’s TriFest is an olympic distance triathlon and festival that celebrates life in tribute to Johan Visser. Visser was a businessman and ten-time Ironman triathlete who holds age-group awards and records in many triathlons. He qualified for and ran the Boston Marathon in 1997 when he was 61 years old. In January of 2001, at the age of 64, Visser was diagnosed with brain cancer in its most aggressive and incurable form. After a hard and valiant fight, he lost his life to cancer on January 19, 2002.
TriFest benefits Van Andel Institute and Hospice of Michigan. Registration is limited to 500 entrants and will be available online until June 18. Registration closes at 8:00 pm on June 20; registration will not be available on race day. Race packets can be picked up Friday, June 20 at Striders in Grandville from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm or Saturday, June 21 at the race site from 6:30 am to 7:45 am. You must be 14 or older to participate.
Registration Fees
- $50.00 by June 1
- $60.00 after June 1
- $90.00 for a three-person team
- All participants must be a USA Triathlon member or pay an additional $10 one-day membership fee
An olympic distance triathlon includes:
- 1.5K Swim (0.93 mile)
- 40K Bike (24.8 miles)
- 10K Run (6.2 miles)
