Applying

Van Andel Education Institute seeks and admits students who are curious, creative, and persistent and who enjoy working with others. Because we seek to represent the ethnic and socioeconomic diversity of Grand Rapids in each of our cohorts, the Academy is open to all students, whether they are from public and private schools, urban and suburban districts or home school settings.

Science Academy applications for students who entered 4th or 5th grade in the fall of 2007 are available:

Step 1: Request for Application

Applicants can request an application through our web site during the designated time for each session. During this step, you must confirm that:

• Your child entered 4th or 5th grade in the fall of 2007;
• You and your child are ready to make a three-year commitment to the program.

Step 2: Submit an Application

When you receive your application, fill it out in its entirety, following all instructions, and send it in before the application deadline listed. Incomplete applications will not be considered during the selection process.

Step 3: Selection

After the application deadline, the selection process begins. A letter is sent to applicants regarding results of selection process.

Step 4: Orientation

An orientation will be scheduled prior to the first session for those who are selected.
