Research Director

The current President and Research Director of Van Andel Research Institute is Dr. Jeffrey Trent. Dr. Trent is also President and Scientific Director of the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) in Phoenix, Arizona. Prior to this, he served for 10 years as the Scientific Director of the National Human Genome Research Institute at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.  (more...)

Education Director

The Director of Van Andel Education Institute is Steven J. Triezenberg, Ph.D., who is also the dean of the VAI Graduate School and head of the Laboratory of Transcriptional Regulation at VARI. Before joining Van Andel Institute, Dr. Triezenberg was Associate Director of the interdepartmental graduate program in cell and molecular biology at Michigan State University, where he also taught and directed research projects.
